led by Bridget Belgrave
This is a small group workshop for six people. Each participant will have an opportunity to be coached on the 13 Step Dance Floor. There'll be plenty of time for sharing insights, questions and discussion arising from the richness of being with each person's 'dance of communication'.

8pm-10pm (GMT, UK)

What will you gain?
• A deeper understanding of NVC
• An opportunity to explore a challenging conversation, in role-play on The 13 Step Dance Floor, and be coached throughout your process by Bridget
• Learning and insights through being with other participants' 'dances'
• Knowledge of a tool you can use at home, in your practice group or workshops
• Experience of how the Dance Floors are coached by one of their co-creators
What are the NVC Dance Floors?
The NVC Dance Floors were co-created by Bridget Belgrave and Gina Lawrie, as a methodology to use in learning, practising and teaching NVC (Nonviolent Communication). There are nine ‘Dances’, each of which supports a different application of NVC in a structured yet fluid and flexible process. For more info go to: www.NvcDanceFloors.com
What will we do?
Each evening will be focused on the learning that arises through two participants bringing real situations from their life, to explore on the 13 Step Dance. After a ‘check-in’ with the group, Bridget will coach someone on the Online Interactive Dance Floor. Using this tool means everyone in the group can see the steps the 'dancer' takes, and how Bridget 'stands alongside' as she coaches the 'dancer'. After the ‘dance’ there will be time for questions, insights and discussion. Then there will be a second 'dance' and more questions, insights and discussions. And a completing round to end the evening.
Which Dance Floor will we work with?
The 13 Step Dance: This Dance Floor is great for trying out a difficult conversation that you are avoiding, preparing for one you know you will be having soon, or re-visiting a conversation you've already had that you are unhappy about (to learn by exploring how it could have been different).
There will be time for every participant to 'dance' their own situation. You will learn deeply through your own process, and through the rich opportunity of being present for the 'dances' of the others in the group.
What’s the difference between ‘live’ Dance Floors and Online Dance Floors?
Live: The Dance Floors were originally created as spatial maps made up of large coloured cards placed on the floor in layouts called ‘dances’. People walk through them, often with support from a trainer or coach. Charts (diagrams) of the Dance Floor are used as reference guides, or as a tool for ‘finger dances’.
Online: With Pauline Dirksen we have developed a way of working that uses the Dance Floor chart as an interactive tool on the internet. The ‘dancer’ clicks on each step they move to, and the coach ‘moves’ with them, just as in 'live' Dance Floor coaching. Other participants are present, observe deeply, and participate in a sharing of insights, questions and discussion questions after each dance - just as in a ‘live’ workshop. People are often surprised by the degree of presence and connection they experience when working this way.
Technical stuff: To participate you will need internet access, a Google account (free), and Skype (free). We will use the voice connection on Skype, not video, so you don’t need a camera. If you are not much used to these tools, please watch my orientation video (coming soon).
This workshop is open to people with basic experience of NVC, i.e. you have participated in a 2-day basics workshop or Foundation Training, or my 'Communication..is like a dance' day + some practice groups. If you want to brush up on your NVC understanding and skills, I invite you to my online NVC Basics Classes. If you'd like to listen to NVC CDs/DVDs to refresh your learning, they available via the UK from www.life-resources-shop.com, and via the US from www.cnvc.org
