Prayer and meditation

My personal practice

I doubt I could get through many days without the grounded and expansive support of prayer and meditation. Certainly my life would look very different, and contain fewer blessings.

Yet I am not a follower of any one religion or school of meditation. I find my own way, and love to be in any group which turns around a deep and living spirituality, with openness and authenticity.

I run workshops around the topic of prayer where people of any religion or none explore and share together, and where I offer several maps I have developed about prayer.

Meditation is a wide word. For me it encompasses a range of practices of mind, heart, body and spirit that I am familiar with and sometimes share with others.

I ponder on the question, “What is the difference between prayer and meditation?”

When through meditation I am immersed in subtler, higher energies, then I sometimes bring my attention to people I want to 'pray' for.

It feels like inviting them into the blessing of this 'higher' energy. To receive it deep in their beings. To soak it up, as I am doing. For me, this is one form of prayer.

Since 2018 I've been running this as an online course, for people of any religion or none.

Praying here and now

How can there by such beauty

such horror

in our world

let's hold each other

in our despair

our hopelessness

be still

listen

do you hear a sound

deep within

the sound

of love

quiet now

let the sound ring

through you

beyond you

into our world

let it ring

and reach the ones

who need it

under the rubble

of hardship

destruction

and the ones

buried in riches

luxury

unbury us all

let the bell

of your heart ring

sing out

from your deep silence
